RACETRAC RAISES MORE THAN $100K FOR HAITIAN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

Funds from three-day Coffee for a Cause promotion will be donated to the American Red Cross

ATLANTA – February 16, 2010— RaceTrac Petroleum Inc., operator of 270 retail gasoline convenience stores, announced today that it will donate $102,939.88 to the American Red Cross in support of the Haitian Earthquake Relief effort. The more than $100,000 in funds was raised during last week’s Coffee for a Cause campaign, during which all proceeds from the sale of 16-, 20- and 24-ounce cups of coffee were earmarked for donation. All RaceTrac stores in eight metro markets—Atlanta, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Orlando, Jacksonville, Tampa, Miami and Dallas—participated in the campaign.

According to the American Red Cross, the donation will provide tents, hygiene packs, blankets, cooking sets and water containers for more than 5,000 people.

“We had over 45 employees directly affected by the tragedy in Haiti,” said Allison Moran, RaceTrac Sr. Vice President. “To be able to donate such a significant amount to the American Red Cross on their behalf says a lot about our customers. They are the ones who made this donation possible. They are the reason families in Haiti will have ability to cook and serve food, to have clean drinking water, to sleep protected from the elements. ”

In fact, RaceTrac customers responded so positively to the call for action that unit sales were up nearly 10 percent over the same three day period from the week prior.

A similar campaign in December 2009 allowed RaceTrac to donate more than $28,500 to Camp Sunshine, an Atlanta organization committed to enriching the lives of children with cancer and their families through recreational, educational and support programs.
